Mission Statement
San Miguel Community Foundation (SMCF) grants charitable funds for the benefit of San Miguel de Allende’s most needy non-profit Mexican charities. The foundation’s grants are awarded to charities where a meaningful difference can be made, where there is the greatest need at the time of the grant review and where other monies are not readily available from the community for these charities’ causes.
History
The San Miguel Community Foundation was founded more than 30 years ago to offer these donors a channel for U.S. tax-deductible contributions. Today the foundation is much more than that. Thanks to a generous bequest, the foundation, from its own monies, makes grants available two times a year to needy Mexican charities, as well as providing a pass-through service to those Americans wishing to make a tax-deductible donation to their favorite San Miguel charity.
Board of Directors
SMCF is directed by a volunteer, unpaid board of directors, which meets once a month. The members are active in the community, know its needs and collectively represent more than 50 years of living in San Miguel de Allende.
